Help Long Beach Win the 4th “Beach Rescue” on August 23, 2008!

We’re excited to announce our participation in this year’s Surfrider Foundation Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project. The Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project was launched in 2007 to help raise awareness and support for the Surfrider Foundation and its efforts to protect and preserve our world’s oceans, waves and beaches through a series of beach restoration events.

Together, Surfrider and Barefoot Winery toured around the country, helping beaches through cleanups and native plantings. Afterwards, volunteers were thanked with celebrations that included live music, beach-inspired food and of course, Barefoot Wine. This summer, they’re back!

Help Long Beach win the 4th  “Beach Rescue” on August 23, 2008!

Four beaches and lakes will be visited this summer so more people can get Barefoot and have a great time.

Three beaches already included in this event are:  Montauk, NY; San Francisco, CA; and Austin, TX.

The fourth beach will be decided by YOU! And the list of potential beaches includes Long Beach, CA!

Please invite Surfrider Foundation members, volunteers, friends, family, coworkers and other people the age of 21 + to cast their daily vote at www.BarefootBeachRescue.com and click on the “Vote” link on the mainpage.

Voting is open to persons the age of 21 +. Barefoot Wine is an alcoholic beverage company and the age limit is required by law. People are invited to vote once a day until voting ends on July 15, 2008. The beach (or lake) location receiving the most votes will be announced on July 18.

A beach clean up or other event will be sponsored by the local winning chapter. There will also be a celebration event after the beach cleanup / restoration courtesy of Barefoot Wine for volunteers the age of 21+.  Volunteers will enjoy Barefoot Wine and Bubbly tastings and a special live performance from musical guest singer-songwriter and guitarist Tristan Prettyman (please visit www.BarefootBeachRescue.com to view her music video). Tristan will join volunteers to make these areas “barefoot-friendly” and perform songs from her new album Hello at the Barefoot Winery sponsored celebration afterwards.

In addition $1,000 will be allocated to the winning chapter for their beach clean-up or beach restoration efforts. Voting ends July 15, so be sure to cast your vote at www.BarefootBeachRescue.com
