The Long Beach Chapter has been advocating the reconfiguration of the breakwater for over 10 years so that the waves will come back to Long Beach along with many other benefits that other beach cities enjoy. The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

While supporting the mission and principles of the Surfrider Foundation, the Long Beach Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to reconfiguring the Long Beach Breakwater to bring waves back to Long Beach.

The Long Beach Chapter of Surfrider Foundation has been active since 1996, and has more than 1000 members in the Long Beach area (as of November 2009). The chapter’s efforts mostly focus on the “Sink the Breakwater” campaign to bring waves back to the shores of Long Beach.

Other chapter campaigns/activities include beach clean-ups, Rise Above Plastics, Blue Water Task Force and Ocean Friendly Garden.

Our organization is a non-profit chapter, that benefits only from your direct support locally.
